Winchester Race has been Cancelled
- Published 08/4/2008
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it goes with the territory. Because the promoters of the King of Wings and The Auto Value Bumper to Bumper Supersprints could not agree on a purse for this years race at Winchester, WE WILL NOT be racing in this Sunday's event. Since Helen and I have taken over the series we have tried to raise the bar for the racers as the expense of the "hobby" has went up. I could not accept the original offer from the promoter, which was less than last years purse, because I refuse to regress. I unfortunately was not "privy" to further talks between the promoter and the other series that is involved and the next thing I knew, there was a take it or suffer possible consequences deal struck, that I knew NOTHING about. I apologies to the fans, car owners, and drivers who will not be racing at this years event. We ALL have to work together with no secret deals, hints of possible repercussions and underhandedness to make these types of events work in these tough economic times. Tom Hartsell Jr.

About an hour ago I got off the phone with Gary Howe at Kalamazoo Speedway. We have set Saturday September 20th as our rescheduled race date. That will be one week before Berlins open wheel show. Sorry it took most of the day before I got this news. Tom

Marne, MI-- Weather was once again a factor at Berlin Raceway, but once the rain passed, it was sunshine and clear skies. The show was only pushed back one hour, so at 8:00 p.m., the Auto Value Super Sprints heat races kicked the evening off.
The Auto Value Super Sprints provided the last race of the evening and, as always, they put on a great show for the crowd.

The Auto Value Super Sprints family mourns the loss of a very important person in our racing series. Keith King suddenly passed away and he leaves to grieve wife Florence, daughter Beth and son Kevin. Keith, a true-blooded race supporter for many years decided to become involved in the racing scene when Bill Tyler(24) started racing for Mike Katz in 1994. Keith, joined Bill and Marty Tyler when they formed their own team in 1995. He was a 100% true friend and enjoyed watching racing of every kind stated "Marty Tyler".
